Horse Trailer Hire
The advantages
- Hire is a logical and efficient alternative to purchase.
- Eliminate the up front cost of ownership.
- Use a trailer only when you need one. Equilogical estimates that 75% of horse box trailers are idle for 75% of the time.
- Don't get anxious about the hassle of long term storage and security of an owned horse box when it is out of use.
- Forget about any maintenance issues - all our units are new (or nearly new) and are frequently inspected so that it is handed over to you in excellent operating order.
- Don't lose money on depreciation.
Equilogical work with Ifor Williams products. The most popular general all rounder is the HB510/HB511 model. See trailer specifications for more.

Insurance
The hire price does not include insurance of the horse trailer. Most car insurance policies includes only the legal minimum third party cover for the trailer when it is being towed, but this does not include damage or theft of the trailer. It is the responsibility of the hirer to arrange an extension to the vehicle policy or take out a separate trailer policy. We recommend :-
Driving Licence Requirements
The ability to tow a trailer will depend on the driving licence you hold. The category entitlement on your driving licence will determine the type of trailer you can tow.
If you passed your driving test after 1st January 1997, you may require an additional test to upgrade your licence to permit trailer towing.
Official advice is available through the government website www.direct.gov.uk. You will find driver licencing information under the motoring section.

Security Advice
We want your hire experience to be worry free. All our trailers are data tagged and have secret identification markings. Diligence is the best defence against trailer theft. Follow these simple guidelines so you can enjoy your horse rather than worrying about your trailer.
- Supplied at no charge - always fit the wheel clamp security device and fit it on a rear wheel when unattended.
- Supplied at no charge - always fit the hitch lock when unattended.
- Never leave your trailer unattended without these physical security deterrents. Remember, a trailer can be unhitched from your parked vehicle and be 'away' in less than a minute!
- Never assume a busy horse show is an unlikely environment for theft.
- Never tell anyone where your trailer is sited if they ask or show interest in it.
- Inform people in your yard that no-one else has authority to move your trailer.
- Store the trailer out of general sight, away from the road side and preferably in a secure or fenced compound. Try to block access to the trailer using parked vehicles or mechanically placed heavy objects.
- If a site has CCTV or security lighting, use it to your advantage.
- Check your trailer and security devices frequently and look for signs of tampering.
- Consider the use of additional wheel clamps or a heavy duty chain to anchor the chasis to an immovable object.
